Eligibility for Elected Positions in Kindred:

City Council Member
Must be a resident of the city for at least nine months before the election and cannot be in default to the city. A qualified elector must also be a citizen of the United States, and eighteen years of age or older. Further, a person sentenced for a felony to a term of imprisonment, during the term of actual incarceration, cannot be a qualified elector.

Park District Board Member
Members of the board of park commissioners must be a resident of the city for 30 days before the election, a citizen of the United States, and eighteen years of age or older. Further, a person sentenced for a felony to a term of imprisonment, during the term of actual incarceration, cannot be a qualified elector.

All elected candidates will be notified by the City of Kindred upon receipt of the County canvassing report (between June 24-June 30). Newly elected officials take office July 1 (NDCC 40-14-03, 40-15-03.) and are required to file a completed Oath of Office (SFN 11501) with the City Auditor. If you are elected as a write-in candidate, you will also be required to complete and submit a Statement of Interest (SFN 10172)
